Classroom Arrangement Blog
I would like to begin
teaching as a Pre-School or kindergarten teacher. I love the baby-like
personalities these young children still portray. In my ideal classroom, I
would have much to offer my little learners. Like many teachers’ classrooms, I
want my classroom to offer several educationally inspiring centers for my
students to engage with. I would like for there to be boys and girls restrooms
in the classroom to better accommodate my kids. There will be several
opportunities for the students to practice independence and self-control. I
want creativity to be the major influence of my future learning facility.
I would like to have a hands-on science teaching center, such as this sandbox. Children will be able to practice their motor skills with an activity such as this one. A sandbox that also has an option to incorporate water may also be fun. This may seem like a messy thing to have in the classroom, but I think it would be worth it. This will also provide an opportunity to teach about tidiness and cleaning up after ourselves.

I would like for my classroom to have a large carpet for us to have group discussions and read-alouds. I like this rug, as there can be desgnated places for the children to sit at. The rug can also be used in teaching strategies and to carry out interactive games like musical chairs. I can imagine myself sitting on the rug with the children and reading an entertaining story to them.
A technology center such as this one will enable students to improve their understanding of technology and it's uses. Accelerated Reader would be a major use of the computers in my classroom, as well as interactive and educational games that reflect the curriculum.
I would also like to offer the students an opportunty to practice more male-related hobbies, such as wood working. This will encourage boys and girls to explore several areas of interest and not limit themselves to dolls and kitchen work. I would make sure that the articles in each area were child-safe and encouraged learning by playing.
